What to do for Monday, January 23rd:
- Essay: See the other handout on the first
essay. For Monday, do the first step: Choose one of the five poems and write
it out with lots of space between the lines. Now make all of the observations
you can about the poem. On Monday, you’ll get a chance to meet with your group
and share ideas.
- Keep reading poems: Read 25 new poems of
your own choosing in our poetry book. Of those 25, choose five poems that have
an impact on you and then, for each of the five, free-write or free-draw for
5-10 minutes on your reaction to them. Afterwards, pick the one that rises to
the top and fw/fd for 10-15 minutes on that one.
- Your own poem: Write a poem of your own
and attach to it some kind of visual image.
