For Tuesday, March 15th:
Portfolio:
- On the left side, include all the papers—freak,
character, profile—that you’ve written so far. For each, you will need four
things: the original, the rewrite, the transcript, and the boo-boo page. (And
aren’t those two beautiful sentences that use a dash and a colon?)
- On the right side, insert your beautiful essay. It must
include…
- these sentences:
- dash
- -ing
- ;
- :
- and maybe a simile, if inspired
- a “Works Cited” page at the end;
- at least one quote or statistic in each of the body
paragraphs, plus a citation for that reference in parentheses;
- all the things that a persuasive must include (see the
handouts).
- And have your cassette tape all cued up to fresh tape.
- And also include a “Dear Jimbo” letter that lets me know
how you’re doing. You might want to include your thoughts on what to write for
the upcoming I-Search paper.
Reading: Read and respond to the first 48 pages of
Nickel and Dimed. Mark the sentences in your book that stand out to you.
Be sure to free-write (about 10 minutes) on both the content and the writing of
these pages. Be specific.
