What to do for next Tuesday, September 20th:

            It’s all Angela’s Ashes:

·        Finish the book. While reading, mark up any of your YEEHAA moments.

·        When finished, free-write for 10-15 minutes about your overall impression of the book.

·        Then I want you to write full responses to these questions in your journal:

1.      Why do you think the book is titled Angela’s Ashes? Is that a good title to you?

2.      If you could meet Frank McCourt, what would you ask him?

3.      Why is it worthwhile to read a book like this? Does it make you a better human?

4.      Why do you think this book has been such a best-seller in America?

5.      Write out one magnificent YEEEEHAAA, and explain why that particular passage is so yeeeeehaaa-able.

6.      What has this book taught you about writing? What has it taught you about the difference between good and bad writing?

7.      Write a hundred words or so in the style of Frank McCourt. The topic is up to you.

8.      Finally, write your own question and answer it.

For Thursday, September 23rd: Do something creative for Angela’s Ashes—a drawing, a video, a game, some image from the book, a song—and present it to us on this day.
