Ceramics Term Project, Choose one.

due date:  complete by Nov. 12, 2008:  25 points

Always cite your sources.  When using books or magazines, be sure to include a bibliography.  When interviewing, get the spelling of the name correct.  When you complete the interview, share the quote you wrote down with the person making the quote.  Be sure you got it right!

If you do not type your project, it needs to be NEATLY written.

Get instructor approval before proceeding:

1.         Teach a ceramics project to an elementary class.  See me first.

2.       Research a “how-to” ceramic project.  Photocopy or write up the “how to” instructions.  Teach the lesson to at least two classmates.  Let me know before you do this so I can watch part of  the lesson.

3.         Research a “how-to” ceramic project.  Photocopy or write up the   “how to” instructions.   Create the project according to the directions.  Submit your photocopy and your project.  Greenware stage will be acceptable to receive credit.

4.       There is an opportunity to see some ceramics in Columbia State Park Sept. 21, 9-5.  Visit the Art exhibit. If you want to take pictures,  ask permission, please tell the artist you are working on an assignment for class.  If there are multiple ceramic artists present, select at least 5 different pieces of work to write about; preferably from 5 different artists.  Photograph or sketch a                picture of the piece.  Ask the artist how it was created.  What type of clay?  How was it fired?  What type of glaze?  Is there anything else         the artist would like to say about why they work in clay?

Write this all up and turn it in!  You are not required to type this.

Here is a 40 point option, and it is the one I am recommending:

5.       Visit the Asian Art Museum or de Young Museum in San Francisco.         See my new comprehensive study guide for this option.
