Sept. 3 1. Subtractive and additive design, carve one of your pots.

2. Slab roller demo. 3. Demonstrate soap dish, simple plate.

Sept. 10 1. Library visit: Get library card, check out ceramic book or magazine.

2. Visit display cases 3. Load bisque kiln.

Sept. 17 1. Assignment #1 due: 15 points. Three things you learned.

Show me your library card; display case review.

2. Demo. extruded forms. 3. Students create extruded forms.

Sept. 24 1. First Journal and work review. 25 points

2. Demonstrate wedging and throwing cylinders on the wheel

Oct. 1 1. Slides of glaze examples 2. Oct. 1 Glaze lecture MANDATORY!

3. Demonstrate glazing. Students glaze work.

Oct. 8 1. Students begin to throw on the wheel. 2. Demo. throwing cups.

3. Demo. creating and attaching handles; texture and repetition.

4. Carving assignment #2 due, 10 points

Oct. 15 1. Slides of ceramic work. 2. Load high fire kiln

3. Demonstrate bowls on the wheel 4. Students throw and glaze.

Oct. 22 1. Whole class critique assignment #3: Present your work. 10 points

Oct. 29 1. Second review of Journal and glazed work. 25 points

Nov. 5 1. Hand built sculptural pieces, newspaper center

3. Assignment #5 Term project due, 25 points (40 for museum)

Nov. 19 1. Students finish all greenware for last bisque.

Dec. 3 1. Final days to glaze high fire 2. Load final glaze kiln.

3. Third review of Journal and work. 25 points

Dec. 10 Final critique, clean room and lockers. 10 points
