COMPOSER REPORT

The purpose of this report is to give you the opportunity to study the music and life of one composer in depth. I am personally interested in the presentation being adequate to cover the composer’s life and clear.

Topics you must include in your report are: Childhood years, later years, significant personal events in the composer’s life, important compositions, and family background. You may also want to include information on teachers or other influential composers in this persons life, current events of the time, hobbies, how many compositions this person produced, outlook on life (philosophy), or any other significant topics you think would make interesting reading. Use your imagination.

I also want a Visual Example to compliment your report that illustrates some aspect of the composer’s life, music, or times.

As part of your report, I also want a Glossary of Terms defining any terms you ran across or used that you did not understand.

I also want a Bibliography in correct Bibliographic Form (Go to the Library for an example). I want at least 4 different sources. Internet sources must be cited as well as a copy of the document you drew your information from.

The report to must be typed, double-spaced, using a 12-sized font. You are to proofread for errors. It must be at least 2 pages and no more than three.

I also want you to listen to at least four compositions by the composer well enough to begin to get a grasp of the music’s feeling and then list their titles at the end of your report.

Finally, after you have written your report, I want you to fill out a “Think Sheet” on your composer. Include this sheet with your report.

You will be graded on the quality of your report including your ability to follow directions and your ability to include all the information requested above. I will also consider your ability to spell correctly, write coherently and present the information in an attractive way.
