What is the function of

to get some definitions, and/or interview some people to get their opinions. Also write
down your own definitions and explain.
At least 250 words , doubled spaced and typed.

#1 art project: A
Self-Portrait
Read about Durer in
your textbook. In order to
understand Durer’s fascination with portraiture and
the self-analysis he underwent, do a psychological self-portrait illuminating
your personality.
Drawing, painting, collage,
photographs, sculpture, mix-media, two-dimensional or three-
dimensional works are acceptable.
The piece should be at least 9”x11”.
#2 writing and presentation: Visual Art and Music
Did you ever have an
experience of looking at a painting and the kind of mood that it creates
reminded you of a certain piece of music? Or vice versa?
Choose an art work from an
artist in our textbook and find a piece of music that you feel has a similar
atmosphere, rhythm, form, contrast and feeling to it. Write about your analysis. Describe the background and structure of the
art work and the music. At least 250
word and typed and turn it in on the due date.
In order to receive a grade
for this project, you need to bring to class a color transparency of the art
work and a recording of the music to present to the class on the date that you
have signed up to do so.
#2 art project: Accidental Drawings
Create 3 art work using the technique of chance. For example, cut a piece of string between 6
and 12 inches long and dip it in paint, then repeatedly drop it onto a piece of
white illustration board until it fills the page. Can you think of another method to create
accidental art?
Bring in at least 3 pieces of
art work to class for group critique.
