We, the students of Columbia College, are a self-governing body to direct extracurricular activities and participate within the shared- governance of Columbia College. The ASCC was established in order to enhance sound student governance and citizenship; to express the general will of the students to the administration. (ASCC constitution, preamble)

  • Further cooperation with administration, staff, community and other educational institutions
  • Create and maintain adequate scholastic, social, cultural, and political actives in the furtherance of student welfare

  • Represent the interests of Columbia College students
  • Participate in state level representation of California Community Colleges through CalSACC (California Student Association of Community Colleges)
  • Work on committees with Columbia staff, faculty and administration through shared governance
  • Develop leadership skills
  • Enhance job, scholarship and college transfer applications
  • Plan campus activities

Office Requirements
        
Executives - 7 executive positions available

  • Complete an application, be elected or appointed
  • Current semester enrollment in 9 units and completion or 12 units in the prior semester with a 2.0 GPA or greater
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA throughout term in office
  • Complete guidance 115 class with one academic year
  • Attend all Student Government meetings

Hold five (5) posted office hours per week

 

 

Senators - 10 senator positions available:

  • Complete an application, be elected or appointed
  • Current semester enrollment in 9 units and completion or 9 units in the prior semester with a 2.0 GPA or greater
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA throughout term in office
  • Complete guidance 115 class with one academic year
  • Attend all Student Government meetings

Hold three (3) posted office hours per week
