·               These new changes apply to new courses only and are not retro.

·               State Chancellor’s office site gives information if a course is a stand alone course or not.

·               The Curriculum Committee will need to come up with a new name for certificates not approved by the Systems Office.

·               Local approval of stand alone courses is now permitted

·               Complied stand alone courses will receive a control number from Systems Board.

·               Stand alone courses cannot be offered until term following Board approval.

·               Training must be done by September 30th of each year and district will submit by September 30th. It was mentioned that Columbia College could do training in spring for the new people instead of trying to fit it into the fall when it is so busy.

·               Previously denied courses cannot be resubmitted to the Curriculum Committee unless prescribe changes have been made.

·               Course repeatability went up: Can be taken 2 times without petition with a grade of NC, D or F. Only 4 withdraws from a course are allowed.

·               Out-of-Class assignments are in “Credit Only” classes

·               Syllabus will accompany all new course proposals.

2.                   Action Items

1.                   Tim Elizondo would like for Curriculum Committee members to receive packets ahead of time to look at before meetings.

2.                   Need to check and see if questions on proposal forms still relate

3.                   Need to check and see if our current Board approval will be ok with the System Board, since our Board gives authority to college Presidents and Vice Presidents of Instruction.
