Course Development/Proposals-Departments
without Full-Time Faculty
How do we handle proposals from departments without full-time faculty.
Suggestions are:
a. Have an adjunct submit with the review of a
full-time faculty in a close related department.
b. Have a full time faculty sponsor who would review
all proposals from adjuncts.
c.
Since it is
part of contract for full time faculty to do curriculum, do we want to pay
adjunct a stipend for doing proposals and reviews? If so, needs to be fair to
the full time faculty.
d.
ACTION: Decided to take option “C” to the
Academic Senate for discussion and then bring back to the next executive
curriculum meeting.
ACTION: Put on agenda for 9/19 and 9/26 about
making different guidelines for 0-99 and 100-199
2.
Administrative Help with Course/Curriculum
Upkeep
The curriculum committee would like for the administration to help with
ensuring faculty have their curriculum up-to-date. Some ideas on how administration
could help are:
a.
Set a
deadline for when courses need to be up-to-date and then do not add new classes
in areas that are out of compliance.
b.
Come up
with a philosophy in writing that has guidelines and sets dates when courses
need to be done.
c.
Set up
actions such as course discontinuation, no new courses and have an area on
evaluations to see if faculty has his/her classes up-to-date.
ACTION: A
check list for 200-299 non-associate degree courses.
3.
CurricuNet
The District has purchased CurricuNet for both C.C. and MJC. A
representative will meet with each college to individualize the system as
needed.
