AA/AS DEGREE MAJORS

Students are required to complete an academic major to fulfill the Associate Degree requirements of Columbia College.  All courses in the major must be completed with a grade of C or better.  Credit (CR) grades are not accepted.  (Students transferring to a four-year college or university should consult the catalog of the transfer school for lower division requirements for the transfer major.)  Following are the course requirements for each major currently offered at Columbia College.

ASSOCIATE IN ARTS DEGREE

An Associate in Arts Degree if earned in areas such as Fine Arts, Humanities, Social and Behavioral Science, and if often awarded to students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution.  To earn this degree, a student must complete the requirements listed in Column 1 of the General Educational Breadth Requirements.

The Associate in Science Degree is awarded in Science and Technical fields.  It is specifically designed for students who intend to transfer to a four-year institution.  To earn this degree, a student must complete the requirements listed in Column 1 of the General Educational Breadth Requirements.

associate IN SCIENCE (OCCUPATIONAL EDUCATION) DEGREE

The Associate in Science (Occupational Education) Degree is earned in occupational programs that provide students with skills and training for immediate entry into the workforce.  These programs are not designed for students planning to transfer to a four-year institution, even though some courses in the AS (OE) degree may meet transfer requirements.  To earn this degree, a student must complete the requirements listed in Column of the G.E. Breath Requirements
